About Linkedin

Finding a place to start by talking about your company is probably one of the least cost-effective strategies you can choose to test out if you want to see how people use the site before you can even set the tone. I think that one of the reasons that LinkedIn has become such a pretty popular site to start talking about is that they have enough of the little bells and whistles that make the experience exciting and also do so without being tacky or asking you to lie.

People can easily spend over two hours on a few posts per week; most of them are nothing and feel like punishment from the site, and feel like I have to become an average Joe like the old guys from back in the day to have a productive experience there. Of course, if you pick a way and do it better than others, you’ll probably get more likes, more views, and people being like “oh man this dude can do it because he used to do what I do and think like I’d do so I have experience.” It is that kind of talk that keeps Facebook status updates crawling your feeds. I know that is a cheap, easy, and easy-on-the-eyes option, but it is not a quality of Facebook or Linkedin or anyone else.

Which is the word has gotten around.

What do you get when you pick either Facebook or Linkedin? People continue to clog their own feeds, your own Facebook walls, your own Linkedin photo’s, and numerous others they claim want to share or post. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried to change their messaging, get them to change their tone, and just really stick to business or what kind of posts you would like to see in your feed. My personal favorites there are the special celebrations, and a lot of the natural things that have nothing to do with Facebook or Linkedin. There is still a little wild in the ranks that makes my head spin, and I can’t say if it has found its way to Facebook, but it is still there!

This same type of stuff can be found on Twitter: A little random stuff, but it doesn’t happen as much at Linkedin, there are also more important things like more of your peers can see each other and interact with them a little more. Also, not everyone who uses that site will have the same number of friends who can see everyone else’s posts, there are a lot of places you can go where all your best friends will be. I really wish I found this site! But I will just keep watching my Facebook friends; and maybe don’t post that about my company any more!
